The All Progressives Congress (ApC) in Ekiti State has congratulated Muslims on the celebration of Ed-el-Kabir.
It said the opportunity to celebrate this year’s Sallah is through the grace of Allah and urged the Islamic faithful to spend their holiday to offer prayers for the peace in Nigeria and good health of President Mohammadu Buhari.
In a statement by the Deputy State Chairman, Chief Mrs Kemisola Olaleye, the party also urged Muslims and indeed Nigerians to reflect on the lessons of Ed-el-Kabir and use the signiicance of the season of sacrifice to build a better relationship with God for more mercies for our great nation.
Noting that Id-el-Kabir is a reminder that God’s promise would always be fulfilled in the lives of His people, she urged muslims to always keep faith with the Almighty Allah, reminding them that the essence of the sacrifice is to allow for a spiritual rebirth and deep reflections while having unshakeable faith in Almighty Allah.
“This period should not only be for festivities but also to reflect on the lessons of perseverance, steadfastness, trust, faith and fulfilment of promises to humanity as a creation of God,” she said.
She added: “Prophet Ibrahim demonstrated an uncommon courage to Allah by showing that promise is a debt and Allah in turn gave him victory and relief by exchanging a ram for his son, Ismail, for sacrifice.
“As Prophet Ibrahim fulfilled his promise to Almighty Allah so shall the Buhari-led Federal Government fulfil his promise to make life meaningful and worthwhile to Nigerians and we are beginning to see this happen.”
Olaleye urged Ekiti people and politicians in particular to eschew politics of violence, hate speech, and desperation as 2018 gubernatorial election in the state gets underway, even as she urged Nigerians in general to desist from acts that can jeopardise the gains so far achieved by the President in repositioning the country as a peaceful country to enable her get out of the present economic challenges.
She also urged agitators for secession and Boko Haram members to sheathe their swords for meaningful dialogue that can restore the nation to peace to enhance President Buhari’s development agenda.
