The Federal Government will on Thursday make public the details of the 2016 budget signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari last Friday.

Also to be made public is the budget’s strategic and implementation plan.

According to information made available on the Aso Rock Tweeter handle on Monday, the presentation would be done by the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udo Udoma; and the Minister of State, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed.

The message read, “The presentation of the details of the 2016 budget and strategic implementation plan will take place on Thursday, May 12 at the State House Banquet Hall at 10am.

“The presentation will be done by the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udo Udoma; and the Minister of State, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed.”

The President had in his speech shortly after signing the N6.606tn budget, directed Udoma to make the details available to Nigerians, while he also promised to speak extensively on it in his Democracy Day address to the nation on May 29.

Buhari had said, “The budget I have signed into law provides for aggregate expenditures of N6.06tn. Further details of the approved budget as well as our strategic implementation plan for the 2016 budget will be provided by the Minister of Budget and National Planning.

“I shall be speaking in more details about the budget, its implementation and the overall national economic and social policies of the government in my address on May 29, God willing.”

The government had on Sunday listed six strategic intervention areas that will be covered by the budget.

These are transparency and security; diversification (industrialisation, agriculture, solid minerals, tourism, entertainment); critical infrastructure (power, rail, roads and housing); oil and gas reforms; ease of doing business; and social investment.
