Unkown gunmen, on Wednesday, abducted the Permanent Secretary, Adamawa State Ministry of Minerals Resources, Mr Emmanuel Piridimso.
A member of the Piridimso family, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, explained how the incident occurred to journalists in Yola.
He said the abductors invaded the residence of the Permanent Secretary at the Clerk Quarters opposite the Anglican Cathedral around 3.20am and whisked him away at gunpoint.
The family member stated, “The men came bearing two guns and abducted the Permanent Secretary at gunpoint.
“They took away his mobile telephone and that of his wife. We tried to no avail to contact the victim through his telephone number, but the abductors refused to pick our calls.
“As of the time we are speaking, the abductors have yet to contact us.”
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, said the command had already deployed the Inspector-General of Police’s Rapid Response Team to track down and arrest the culprits as well as rescue the victim.
