Embattled Hafiz Ringim finally left office on Wednesday as the Inspector General of Police amidst more controversy as to whether the police boss, who was due to retired in a matter of weeks, resigned or was sacked by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Mohammed Dikko Abubakar is now the Acting Inspector General of Police.
Until his appointment, Abubakar was the Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone 12, Bauchi.
Ringim last days in office were marred by the questionable escape of the alleged mastermind of Madalla Christmas Day bombing, Kabir Sokoto from police custody and the coordinated Boko Haram attacks that killed over two hundred persons in Kano last Friday.
